Qatar's QInvest exits $62m luxury London homes project

QInvest, the Qatar-based Islamic investment bank, has announced its exit from the St Edmund’s Terrace LP Fund which invested £50 million in a new luxury residential project in London.
The fund, which was jointly owned by QInvest and a range of GCC institutional and retail investors, was created to allow investors to invest in London’s prime residential market.
Call for more pedestrian bridges in Doha, suburbs

As the installation of a pedestrian bridge across E-Ring Road gains momentum, residents of a number of localities in Doha and its neighbourhood have called for the construction of similar facilities in those areas.
Recently, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) installed the steel structure of the E-Ring Road pedestrian bridge, located between the Al Thumama signal and the intersection where it meets Airport Street.
Ashghal expects the bridge to be ready by the second quarter of 2017.

Qatar awards seventh main construction contract for 2022 stadium build

The 40,000-seat stadium to be built in the Al Thumama district of Doha, Qatar, for the 2022 World Cup, will have as its main contractor a joint venture between Qatari construction firm AlJaber Engineer and Turkey’s Tekfen Construction.

Some funky-looking buildings are coming up in Qatar’s Lusail City

Several unique-looking buildings are coming up in Qatar over the next few years at the sprawling Lusail City.
The under-construction site north of Doha aims to eventually house 200,000 residents on four purpose-built islands and in 19 multi-purpose districts.
One recently completed project is a set of new 32-story office buildings called the Marina Twin Towers.
The cubes in the new colorful buildings are deliberately stacked unevenly for visual effect, and are in some ways reminiscent of Qatar’s Zig Zag Towers near"......
TRL and Qatar launch building blocks made from cooking oil

TRL has teamed up with the Qatar government to launch the 'VegeBlock', which is made from recycled cooking oil and said to have similar properties to low-strength concrete.
VegeBlocks are composed entirely of recycled aggregates and used vegetable oil, and are manufactured in a similar way to conventional concrete blocks, except that they are cured at higher temperatures for longer periods. They are suitable for use as non-load bearing blocks.
