October 22, 2020

Doha: Commercial Bank has partnered with the Qatar University (QU) in launching its first-ever design competition for QU students, and is inviting them to unleash their creativity and design their own space at the Qatar University Metro Station.

Enjoying a sole and exclusive presence inside the Qatar Rail Metro Station at Qatar University, Commercial Bank is seeking through the contest, to allocate a dedicated space for students, a space they would visit to escape, study, learn about finance, make their own, and to use as they see best.

Participants are requested to come up with an idea of how to use the allocated space in the Commercial Bank branch at Qatar University Metro station, name their project, and pitch in their ideas. The idea can be presented by one person or a group of up to four people, in whatever medium or method they wish to get their concept across.

To help guide students through the process, Commercial Bank held an online mentoring session yesterday with mentors from Qatar University and Commercial Bank.

Commercial Bank’s EGM for Consumer Banking, Amit Sah, said: “When we first initiated this contest, we were looking for a concept that embraces creativity and innovation. Something that was meaningful to students, useful, yet can still be fun and that with our expertise, help the students take an idea and bring it to life. This exciting project is linked to our digital banking solution called Sadara Youth, a prestigious, exclusive digital way of banking that is also fun and informative.”

Hussein Ali Al Abdulla, EGM, Chief Marketing Officer at Commercial Bank, added: “Being one of our fundamental 5 C’s, creativity and innovation are key pillars of the future. Hence, we are pleased to launch such a competition that sheds light on the competencies and talents of the students and proves to them that everything is possible”.

Nada Asad Al Emadi, Acting Director of Student Activities at Qatar University, said: “We are very excited to be working with the Commercial Bank on this collaboration. We truly believe our students will benefit, learn and grow from this competition. We encourage our students to take advantage of this opportunity and dazzle everyone with their innovative designs.'
